Going Green

Just don't buy them; it's a hard commitment, I know, but try to slowly remove them from you life, recyclable or not. Only 6.8% of all plastics are recycled; most are thrown away, and many, even after they're recycled, are removed from the process because they've been contaminated by something like chicken grease, or there isn't enough of the same type in a garbage load, and so on...and with all the chemicals in them, even when they do Photo-degrade (break down in the sun, which is NOT the same a biodegrade), the chemicals are released more easily into the environment. When they break down in the ocean, they become even more deadly; animals like jellyfish will mistake them for plankton or algae and eat them, and will then in turn be eaten by other animals, with the toxicity working its way up the food chain to many other animals, including us.

Invest in a good steel water bottle, tin containers for storing food, cloth bags for transporting food and such items from point a to point b, and everything else.

To live one of the greenest lives you can, eliminate as much plastic from your lives as possible.
